Bleeding Coolant System Can Am Atv Forum Its extremely easy. there are two bleeder screws bolts on the back of each black plastic cap on each head. it is where the coolant line crosses between the heads. all you have to do is fillteh machinefull of coolant leave the radiator cap off let it idle and get hot and then just loosen each bolt alternating sides until you get no air bubbles. From the manual 500 model: filling cooling system. raise rear of vehicle 4" or so. pinch off hose between radiator and thermostat, see photo (large vise grips work for me) remove bleed screw at thermostat housing. fill radiator until coolant comes out bleed screw hole. install bleed screw & remove pincher. complete filling radiator.

Bleeding Air Out Of Coolant System Can Am Atv Forum Never done a coolant system bleed and my system stays nice and cool. i usually let it cycle a few times, let the fan come on,then off, then the coolant should bubble, then fan on, then off, then coolant bubble. i usually let the fan come on and off 2 3 times. make sure if your gonna let it do it a few times do it outside. I followed the steps in the brp manual, they were pretty good. the radiator is on an angle on the hood (its a wild boar rad kit). if taking the rad cap off lets the remaining air out i might jack up the end of the bike (so that the rad sits straight) and let it idle with the rad cap off. I then started to fill the coolant till it started flowing out the bleed screws. i then installed the bleed screws and removed the clamp from the hose and kept filling the rad until it was full. put the cap on and started the machine. let the fan turn on and cycle. then the fan will not shut off. the hi temp light comes on. First. fill to max line and reinstall cap. let run thru tw fan cycles, after second fan cycle rev 3 or 4 times. shut off and let cool. fill up again if needed. seems a little basic but thats what is written in manual. i just went thru this with my thermostat. hope its just air. reply like.

Raise the front of the sled a foot or so. i use milk crates under the skis. remove the thermostat housing and fill the system. i then start the engine for a minute to move the coolant thru the engine to push out any captured air. then top off the engine and install thermostat and housing and top off the rest of the system.
